For those of you at home, the kids at school were using an ebony pencil to use this image to demonstrate a full range of values from light to the darkest dark. Some of you might have an ebony pencil in the kit I sent home with you at the beginning of the year. If not you can use a regular #2 pencil.

Here is a VALUE Scale…try to get as many values as you can into your drawing, using the white of the paper as the lightest light.

For 6th and 7th grades:

This week I would like you to draw the figures in this painting by Gustave Klimt called The Embrace. Please use a vertical rectangular format.

Remember I wanted you to choose a toy or two and set up a still life to draw from life…please use a format and have fun with this assignment!

This week I would like you to set up a simple still life with a toy or two and draw them from real life, please use a format and all the drawing and shading skills that you have in your bag of tricks to do your best work.

I’m only interested in you drawing from life from this point on in the semester….NOT from internet images. Have fun with this assignment!

If you wanted to you could use some watercolor with your drawing to add a little color.
The point is to slow down and really study the beautiful forms of flowers and record what you see with your pencil or brush.

Here is a nice drawing of a vase of flowers to inspire you this week. Remember I want you to do your drawing from real flowers and not an internet image please!

This week I would like you to find a flower or two, put them in water and draw them from life.
There are flowers everywhere right now…you can use wild flowers or even cut a twig from a flowering tree. Please use a format and have fun with this. I would like you to spend at least 20 minutes on this study. It is your choice on whether to use color or not.
